Across from Osramhuset, where mothers wait with children in their arms for someone to open the door, a woman stands. A dove rests in her hands, its feathers gathered from the neighbourhood's streets and balconies, carrying the city within them.
I was chosen for the commission through an open call from residents of Haraldsgadekvarteret. Moder grows out of the neighbourhood's diversity and reflects the communities that gather in Osramhuset across the street. It's the largest work I've made for public space so far, and it's dedicated to my daughter and to caregivers everywhere.
The painting was realised through Områdefornyelsen ved Skjolds Plads, Københavns Kommune, and is owned by Ejerforeningen Tagens/Valhal.
